The countdown has begun

It is now less than two weeks before the boys head to the Sydney International Regatta Centre in Penrith to do battle for this year's GPS Head of the River. After months of hard training — both in and out of the boat — early morning wake up calls, hot, humid afternoons, and long sessions on the river, the big day is almost upon us. But, just like the duck where all you see is what is happening on the surface rather than the frenzied activity taking place below, all this hard work is only a part of the preparation required if a crew is to be successful — proper diet, right mental attitude, ensuring your equipment is in the best possible condition to withstand the rigours of such an event all play a role in the overall outcome. If a crew wants to give itself every opportunity to bring home the trophy you just cannot jump into the boat and pull on an oar!
